Early Bird Specials Work!

Help Build Sales In A Slow Economy - A report released by Cornell University's Center for Hospitality Research found that 75 % of respondents said they would dine during off-peak hours if there was an incentive to do so. Restaurant owners can ease the waiting time during peak hours, and increase sales and customer satisfaction by offering off peak hour incentives to their customers.

Be creative and enjoy more sales! The goal is not to charge less, but to offer more during off-peak hours. Specials can also include late night dining, between meal specials, etc. However, with high cost and low profit margins on most main course items, you may not want to offer a discounted price on these items as the incentive.  Instead consider offering low cost items like; free dessert, soup/salad, coffee or reduced drink specials etc. It is usually better to give them a little extra something, (they may not normally order, but doesn't cost much) then to reduce the actual check size.
